On the neighboring land, itobasho, the raw material for bashofu, a traditional textile craft passed down through generations, is carefully protected and cultivated by the villagers.

A wooden single-story house. Originally built as a private residence to protect the family altar of ancestors who became guardian spirits of the land, the altar is still carefully preserved today. Born and raised in a village and coexist together with the whole of nature around us,
we do not consider it good to offer only a small portion of the landscape or living creatures.
Our goal is to help all guests to feel the nature, forest and seas, next to communities and
the deep connection between human beings and nature, which is connected to their daily lives
through sustainable human activities.
Since our location has been registered as the World Natural Heritage Site in 2021,
in the near future, many people from all over the world may visit to this place to
search and see rare endemic species and deep forests that can only be found here.

本日、津波警報を受けて
ご宿泊中だった外国のお客様と高台へ避難。
お客様も異国の地での非常事態で、
少し混乱している様子。

集落の方が集まる避難場所に着くと
地域の方が、「トイレはこのお家の使ってね」
「お水いる？バナナ食べる？」と
優しく声をかけてくれたり、
木陰に立っている私たちに
小学生くらいの子どもたちがベンチを
持ってきてくれたり。
ピクニックのような朗らかな雰囲気になり、
お客様も笑顔がでるほど落ち着きを取り戻しました。

また、英語が話せる地元の方が、
「ここは昔から聖地で、
きっと私たちを守ってくれますよ」
と声をかけて一緒に御願もしていただき、
集落のコミュニティの温かさと
ウチナーンチュの懐の深さに触れる経験になりました。

今回、幸いやんばるは大きな被害もなく、
お昼頃からは通常の日常に戻ることができました。

朝からちむわさわさして落ち着かない心に
そっと寄り添ってくれた本日の夕日を
共有させていただきます。

同じ海でつながっている台湾の方々にも
一刻も早く普段の生活が戻りますように。
